To say we're excited for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would be an understatement. The frankly brilliant idea of merging the galaxy far, far away, with our love of those plastic bricks has just "clicked" with fans. When we're not doing a Peter Parker and building the Death Star out of LEGO, we're enjoying these adventures in video game form.

Since the release of LEGO Star Wars in 2005, we've been jumping behind the controls of the Millenium Falcon and punching it into hyperspace. For the first time ever, all nine entries in the acclaimed saga are being gathered together in LEGO form. With this in mind, it's no surprise the upcoming release of The Skywalker Saga has us sitting on the edge of our Tauntauns. If only there was a way to play before everyone else.

Can You Play LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Early?

LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga

Even though The Skywalker Saga is coming to *deep breath* PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 5, a sneaky hack can let you play just a little bit before others. Unfortunately, it depends on what platform you're using, and will also take a bit of work to step aboard the Tantive IV before everyone else.

Once again, the ol' New Zealand trick is back in action if you want to get a head start on the competition. This workaround works especially well for Xbox players. If you change your Xbox location to 12am NZDT, it means you'll be able to play The Skywalker Saga from 4am PT/ 7am ET/ 12pm BST. Simply open settings from the guide, select System, Language & Location, and then change to New Zeland. Pick Restart Now, and voila, you've tricked Microsoft into thinking you're in New Zealand.

Gaining early access to The Skywalker Saga will also work for PlayStation players, but we'll admit, it might not be worth it just to gain a couple of extra hours. If you're playing on PlayStation 4 or 5, set up a New Zealand PSN account. After that, buy LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker in New Zealand dollars and pre-load the title. When the game releases in New Zealand, you'll have the same access. Be warned though, you'll have to stay on your New Zealand PSN account for the entire time you're playing the game. It can also cost more to buy The Skywalker Saga in New Zealand Dollars instead of your regular currency.

Does LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Have Any Bonuses?

LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga Pre-Order

If you prefer a more traditional way of playing and pre-ordering Traveller's Tales' plastic and fantastic adventure, there are some neat bonuses up for grabs. Aside from the Standard Edition, there's also LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Deluxe Edition, which includes a Darth Vader slipcover, six character packs, and a Blue Milk Luke Skywalker minifig. With Luke being one of the biggest heroes of the saga, his minifig is an adorable addition to your collection.

Freedom is the name of the game in The Skywalker Saga, with fans not being locked to a specific order. If you want to go back to where it all started, you can tackle A New Hope First. Chronologically, you could swoosh your lighstaber as young Obi-Wan in The Phantom Menace, or if you want to rattle the critics, why not join Admiral Holdo for The Last Jedi? With hundreds of characters to play as - yes, even the GNK Droid - LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga looks like the perfect way to honour the legacy of this sci-fi favourite.
