Shipment MW3

Whether it be multiplayer or Warzone, Call of Duty is changing, shrinking, and moving with the times to become a much more engagement-focused title.

Warzone's circle is closing rapidly to push out large-scale playlists in favour of Resurgence, despite fans calling for some more tactical LTMs to harbour a slower playstyle.

Over in multiplayer, Black Ops 6 is already being criticised for its tiny map obsession, carrying on from Modern Warfare 3, and even the Call of Duty developers are mocking this newfound desire to play on these miniature shoot-die-respawn simulations like Shipment.

Modern Warfare 3 Season 6 really ramped up the reliance on small maps as it rolled out a whopping five new variants of Shipment, presumably to compensate for the loss of maps that the developers had to pass over to Black Ops 6.

But Sledgehammer Games is now mocking itself and the Call of Duty community for drooling over the map. In its latest Halloween trick, the devs are taunting players with pop-ups on screen. One of which laughs at players for playing Shipment over and over.

"Haha. There are other maps besides Shipment," the quip says. Most found the funny side of it, as one Reddit fan explained, "They can see the numbers of players who prefer shipment playlist over anything. lol."

The Shipment mockery isn't the only joke levelled at Call of Duty players, as Sledgehammer Games took jabs at a range of different habits.

"When in doubt blame aim assist," "Low K/D? Shoot bodies. That'll show everyone how good you are," "Give your team a treat and PTFO", and "If you’re on WiFi you’re throwing," were all some of the funniest jokes aimed at players from the devs.

The developers clearly know what makes the Call of Duty community tick, and if every event had this level of personality, it would go a long way for the fans really trusting that the series is in the right hands.
