Even before Elden Ring took over as the FromSoftware game of the moment, Dark Souls was a treasure trove of bizarre runs.

Tackling a game with strange peripherals or even stranger rules has become commonplace now that Twitch has become the big deal that it has, fans of Dark Souls have taken it upon themselves to make the game more challenging for themselves, in the goofiest ways they can muster.

And now, one player has managed it without walking at all. No, really.

Dark Souls 3 Player Beats The Game Taking No Steps

One player has managed to work their way through the entirety of Dark Souls 3, bosses and all, with their character not taking a single step.

YouTuber ymfah, a creator who has become known for his gimmick runs of FromSoftware titles, has finally done it, and beaten Dark Souls 3 by doing anything but actually walking.

Of course, he doesn't just stand still for the run - a series of exploits like the TearDrop glitch and the quickstep skill that comes with the Bandit's Knife to move around the game's world and take on its brutal bosses.

The run has been uploaded to YouTube, and is just as bizarre to watch as it is to hear about it.

The 'No Steps' Dark Souls Run Was Inspired By Skyrim

This run of Dark Souls 3, as revealed by ymfah in conversation with Kotaku, was inspired by a similar run that he completed in Skyrim.

"I like solving challenges like puzzles," he said. "I set a strict goal, I plan ahead using the knowledge of the game, and when I meet an unexpected hurdle I try to overcome it with new and interesting ideas. I'm on PC so I used a Steam controller settings to disable my left stick. It wasn't really necessary since I had practice with that no-walk Skyrim, and didn't touch the stick then."

Both runs are bizarre, of course, but they're testaments to the creativity of fans. If the game isn't hard enough, they'll clearly just make the game harder for themselves regardless. It's commendable - especially as you couldn't catch us dead trying to take a run at it ourselves.
