One genius Elden Ring player managed to pull the wool over an invader's eyes by disguising themselves as an NPC and it completely worked.
Surviving the dangerous landscape of the Lands Between can be pretty tough as it is, without having to deal with the attacks of a fellow player who wanders into your game. As if getting past the first boss wasn't hard enough, you then have to compete with the savage beasts of the wilderness or fellow Elden Ring players who successfully manage to invade your world. Subsequently, transforming the fantasy RPG into a competitive PvP.
While being invaded could be a fight or flight situation for most Elden Ring fans, one clever player decided to put their acting skills to the test, successfully managing to avoid a fight from an invader by pretending to be an NPC.
How Did The Elden Ring Player Manage To Avoid The Fight With An Invader?
On March 12, Reddit user "xdc_lis" shared a clip from their Elden Ring playthrough in which they used the Taunter's Tongue to summon an invading player as they wandered around the Church of Elleh. As an invader arrived in their world, xdc_lis had one trick up their sleeve to see if they could avoid conflict.
They just so happened to be sporting the same armour worn by the guards who patrol the area around the Church. So, grabbing a torch and casually strolling around the woodland, xdc_lis pulled off a performance that would give Tom Hardy a run for his money. Pretending to be one of the guards, xdc_lis convinced the invading player he was an NPC and the competitor abruptly left the game after being completely fooled by the act.
How Did Fans React To The Clip?
After the clip found its way onto Reddit, it didn't take long for it to grab the attention of Elden Ring fans. With 10k likes as of writing, many viewers found the clip hilarious with some even claiming they'll also give the idea a go. As one fan stated: "This is too good lmao, gonna try this tomorrow." One Reddit-user also claimed that they were the invading player stating: "I saw the compass and kept following it but only saw the NPC's and figured 'guess he's the other way since he hasn't cleared these guys' [...] Well played!"
Sure, Elden Ring creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, explained he tried to make dying "fun" in Elden Ring, but that clearly wasn't good enough for xdc_lis who changed the game around without bloodshed. So, next time you get invaded just pretend to be an NPC, or hope that there's a bug that causes the enemy to kill themselves.
