It doesn't take a detective to identify that PlayStation has had some absolute bangers. We don't even mean the classics that brought the brand to life, with orange marsupials and purple dragons helping to make the console a staple of living rooms around the world.
For this, we mean the modern big hitters that have cemented the company's latest console as the home of incredible stories. The first few years of the PS5 have been massive for players of all forms, with narrative masterpieces and casual shooters being huge for Sony.
While there's no real competitive element to which games you like as a PlayStation fan, the company has figured out which title is the most popular of the console generation so far.
Sony reveals winners of the Player's Choice polls
After the conclusion of the Players' Choice poll that PlayStation posited to fans, the company has revealed its results. In all honestly, they're not particularly surprising.
Astro's Playroom took the award for Best Use of DualSense Wireless Controller, Stray nabbed Best Indie Game, and (obviously) God of War: Ragnarok secured the Best PS5 Graphical Showcase. More than this, Ragnarok bagged Best PS5 Game overall.
There's no doubt that Stray got a good headstart after it launched on PS Plus on day one, and knowing PlayStation's player base, there was truly no contest when it comes to the best PS5 game category.
Who missed out in the PS5 Player's Choice polls?
The winners don't just define the polls, and in fact, there are some big names in the list of runners-up. Elden Ring failed to come through as the Best PS5 game, along with Horizon Forbidden West and Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut.
For the indie category, Hades, Sifu and Kena: Bridge of Spirits missing out in the indie category. Even in the "failure" pile, there are a lot of great games here, but that's telling of the wealth of bangers that the PS5 has to its name. Even though we want justice for Sifu, we'll take it.
At a time when Microsoft claims Sony is obliterating it in sales, the green camp is accused of lacking in exclusives. That should all change when/if the Activision Deal goes through, but for the time being, Sony is ruling the roost. Your move, Starfield.
