Anyone excited to dive back into The Zone will definitely want to check out the latest STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl trailer that has just dropped. Initially announced all the way back in 2010 (feel old yet?), the confusingly named STALKER 2 is the fourth entry in the series and the first for 13 years. With the new trailer though, we are treated to a showcase of weapons, areas, and the strange field known as the Noosphere.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Trailer Details
The aforementioned Noosphere is the key aspect of the new trailer, offering players a unique interaction with the world's 'informational field'. What this actually means is still quite unclear, but from what we can see it has some rather destructive effects to the terrain. Spatial earthquakes and summoned lighting seem to be at your disposal, which you might need to utilise if you want to survive in the wasteland.
We also got a taste of the meaty-looking gunplay, with double-barreled shotguns and assault rifles tearing through whatever happens to fall in front of you. Every location shown in the trailer was absolutely stunning too, with fantastic atmospheric lighting sure to keep every corner fresh.
As a 'borderless open world with a non-linear story', we can be sure that there is plenty to search for and explore within STALKER 2, and also an abundance of things you might not want to find once you reach them.
Is There A New STALKER 2 Release Date?
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was originally due to release on December 8, 2022, but the ongoing invasion of Ukraine where GSC Game World are located pushed that date back into the relatively unknown.
However, the game is still on course to come out in 2023, although we don't have a concrete date quite yet, probably being towards the end of that year. Although, it would be completely understandable if its Ukranian developer, GSC Game World, needed to delay the game further considering the circumstances around the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The good thing is that STALKER 2 will be playable on Game Pass day one as an Xbox exclusive title. So, if you're on team green you can jump straight into the Zone and start exploring.
