As May the Fourth (be with you) nears, Epic Games is getting out the Stormtrooper bunting and lightsaber glowsticks for International Star Wars Day.

Strengthening that multi-billion dollar relationship that was recently penned with Disney, Epic Games is bringing Star Wars back to Fortnite.

This time though, the Jedi will be put on hold as the battle will lie against the troopers as we fight to save Chewbacca, whose exclusive bow will be just one of a handful of new weapons added to the battle royale.

Fortnite celebrates Star Wars Day with new Chewbacca quest

Epic and Disney are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with, and this year, the lovable rogue Chewbacca will be the centrepiece of another Fortnite collaboration with Star Wars. "Aaarrrghghghghghghgh."

Starting on May 3, the battle royale map will see Darth Vader's lightsaber and Stormtrooper NPCs both take over the map (albeit quite counterproductive to slaw your own troops), especially around certain POIs which are being transformed into Imperial Roadblocks that are holding Chewbacca hostage.

The collab comes with the usual string of quests and cosmetics, with Chewie's Bowcaster being able to be used and found in chests, while the Stormtroopers' E11 blasters can also be looted from their bodies.

Fortnite Festival, LEGO, and Racing all set for Chewie takeover

As usual, in this new Fortnite age, there will also be Star Wars takeovers in LEGO, Festival, and Rocket Racing.

LEGO will have an exclusive Star Wars island in your worlds, which will stay forever, even after the collaboration ends.

Festival will be injected with that classic Mos Eisley Cantina theme tune, where you can rift on the Seven String Hallikset Guitar.

And finally, Rocket Racing is also getting customisation features like trials and decals, inspired by Darth Maul and Anakin's Podracer.

The crossover is set to last for a few weeks, with some more details on the battle royale modes to be released soon.
