Bethesda is shooting for the stars once again, with the long-awaited Starfield DLC finally locked in. The sci-fi explorer has struggled to keep hold of its player base since it launched in 2023. Thankfully, Bethesda promised that a series of DLCs could lure them back.

Starfield's Shattered Space DLC confirms September release date

There was a double whammy of Starfield news, and in our first look at land vehicles, Gamescom 2024 confirmed the new REV-8 will make traversing planets a little easier. Land vehicles are going live tonight (August 20) as part of a free update, but let's be honest, that wasn't the big news.

In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it tease of Shattered Space, the trailer confirmed the first Starfield DLC will be blasting off on September 30. With just over a month to go, there's plenty of time for the developer to tease what's on the way, with hopes for more monsters out there in the stars.

We know Shattered Space will focus on a mysterious faction called House Va’Ruun and its equally mysterious homeworld. You might remember House Va'Ruun as the lore-packed faction that worshipped the Great Serpent. There were some interesting teases in the main game, so we're excited to see what makes them tick.

Bethesda's Todd Howard has promised a second DLC is out there somewhere, but for now, it's all about Shattered Space. We're told there will be a "frightening new cosmic threat and uncover the secrets behind the galaxy’s most enigmatic faction" when the long-awaited DLC finally launches.
