Streamer David "Nogla" Nagle has officially announced that he is leaving his YouTube roots, and heading on over to join Twitch.
Content creators have been bouncing to-and-fro among the different streaming platforms available in recent times. The two biggest competitors, YouTube and Twitch, have been battling it out to get their hands on some of the community's most famous faces. Some which might immediately spring to mind are Ludwig "Ludwig" Ahgren and the Fortnite legend himself, Benjamin "DrLupo" Lupo, who both sent shockwaves across the industry after moving to YouTube exclusively.
However, Nogla's looking at the world through purple-tinted glasses because the streamer has announced that he is moving over to Twitch. A surprising move, given how he started his career on YouTube way back in 2012.
Who Is Nogla?
Nogla (also known as, Daithi De Nogla) is an Irish streamer and now former YouTuber, best known for his Let's Play videos of games, such as Garry's Mod, Grand Theft Auto V, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. After starting his YouTube channel in 2012, he then took the plunge and left his studies in Early Childhood Care and Education at the Institute of Technology in Tralee, Ireland, to become a full-time YouTuber.
The decision was a good one, as since then Nogla has accumulated 7.3 million subs on YouTube and over 1.2 billion views. His incredible success has won him the crown of Ireland's top YouTuber on a number of occasions. Having previously had the second most popular YouTube channel in Ireland, it was announced that as of October 2021, his channel was the third-most subscribed in Ireland.
When Did Nogla Join Twitch?
On January 27, Nogla posted a short clip on his social media pages which he titled the "biggest decision I've ever made in my career..." In the video, Nogla is shown having a deep think about which platform to go with when a little Twitch and YouTube icon appear in a shoulder angel and devil set up. As the two icons rant and argue about which platform Nogla should go with, he debates whether or not to buy a set of purple or red headphones (Get it?). In the end, he is shown wearing his flashy new pair of purple headphones, indicating he has moved to Twitch.
Clarifying his decision a little more, the streamer said: "I didn't get paid to go over to Twitch to be a full time streamer. I just genuinely believe it's the best streaming platform right now. And I want to have fun playing video games. I'll explain more. Some people are making wrong assumptions or are confused about the decision." He also stated he couldn't confirm just yet whether he'll be streaming on Twitch and then posting videos on YouTube afterwards.
Nogla's first Twitch stream will be kicking off on January 27 11am (PST) and 7pm (BTS).
