The departure of Rocksteady's founding members could spell trouble for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, despite it being in 'safe hands.'

Things sound a little "rocky" over at Rocksteady, as the massive departure of its founding members has us questioning what's going on with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Someone call Amanda Waller because we might need more than Task Force X to fix this one.

As the acclaimed studio behind the Arkham games, it's safe to say comic book fans are excited to see where the story goes next in Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. While we don't know if it's set in the aftermath of the cataclysmic Arkham Knight, it'll be interesting to explore the darker side of the Arkhmaverse with the Suicide Squad... that's if we ever get to meet them?

What's Going On At Rocksteady?

Over on the Rocksteady site, there's confirmation that Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker are leaving Rocksteady before the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The pair co-founded Rocksteady in 2004 after previous positions at Argonaut Games as Creative Director and Head of Production. Following Urban Chaos: Riot Response in 2004, Rocksteady had the honour of delivering Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009.

The rest is history, and while some feel Arkham Knight was a disappointing way to round off the Batman trilogy following the acclaimed Arkham City, there have been constant calls for a fourth game in the series. There are also those long-claimed rumours that the studio's plans for a Superman game in the Arkhamverse was given the boot.

WB Games President David Haddad announced these massive departures and said, "With Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League nearly finished, they have both decided to leave Rocksteady at the end of 2022 and will begin a new adventure in gaming. We have the utmost respect and gratitude for Jamie and Sefton and wish them all the best in their new endeavor, and like many fans, we look forward to what they do next." So, what does this mean?

Will This Affect Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League?

Despite claiming Suicide Squad is "nearly" finished and in safe hands, some are worried that those behind the AAA title are leaving so close to the end. One concerned gamer wrote, "Suicide Squad is starting to feel more and more like a red flag, im really upset I miss when Rocksteady was on top of the world pushing out bangers." Another fan grumbled, "A third concluded, "No wonder Suicide Squad game keep getting delayed. This studio is in shambles right now."

A third concluded, "Can't say I blame them. There's always been rumors that WB scrapped post-Arkham Knight projects, and the fact AK came out 7 years ago, I imagine they wanna get out from under the thumb of WB and work on original IP." Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was originally scheduled for release this year but has since been pushed to "early 2023." Will there be another delay on the cards? Well, we imagine the frost reception of WB Montreal's Gotham Knights won't have helped.
