Much like the rest of the gaming world, Pokemon has developed a taste for a remake. Even though annoyances with the way that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl turned out remain in the usually loyal community, Nintendo has no reason to slow down.
Remembering the instalment in a series players engaged with as kids as the cream of the crop is truly rife with Pokemon, and as the time comes for players to revisit them, The Pokemon Company is happy to oblige.
We love a good Pokemon rumour, and according to the latest, it looks as though a fan-favourite DS title could be making a comeback.
Pokemon Black & White are rumoured for remaster
A new tease from Pokemon leakers has hinted that the future of the series could lie in a return to Unova - the region featured in the Nintendo DS titles Black and White.
Leaker Khu hinted that the upcoming Scarlet & Violet DLC will "tease the future," and some eagle-eyed fans have done the digging to find some potential connections to Unova. It's a long-winded trail but it's compelling evidence that Black and White could be getting the remake treatment in 2024.
This is a pair of games that fans have been waiting to make a return, and though we're still relying on rumours here, it's an interesting indication that the DS games could be the next ones to arrive on Switch.
Could the Black & White remasters include Black & White 2?
Black and White are particularly strange in the history of Pokemon, as they're the only two titles to receive mainline sequels, giving way to Black 2 and White 2.
As we're currently in the rumours stage, there's no telling what we could expect from the remakes, especially if they'll include gameplay from the mainline sequels, either at launch or in the form of DLC.
Much like Pokemon Sword and Shield were lacking Gen 4 Pokemon (leading to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl), the absence of Gen 5 'mon could definitely be teasing a revisit to the Black and White games.
It's an interesting suggestion, and this detail could lead The Pokemon Company to do some creative planning to include all of the content that the original games had to offer. The Pokemon remake is back - and if we get the chibi art style again, we know to be afraid.
