Nothing says "I love you" like a giant chocolate effigy of something that looks like a newt. We know we're only in the middle of January, but with the dreaded V-word just over the horizon, it's time to look ahead at Valentine's Day.

The Pokemon Company is full of romantic 'mon, with Spritzee and Roselia being the perfect Valentine's Day gifts, while Jangmo-o has a heart on its head and Luvdisc is a literally heart. With the introduction of Terastallization, we imagine Swarovski figures will be selling like hotcakes, but how about a chocolate Clodsire?

Chocolate Clodsire is the weirdest Pokemon Valentine's Day gift yet

Those of a certain age might remember the Get Set Chocolate Factory, which effectively just gave you a bunch of plastic moulds and let you pretend you were a chocolatier. Apparently bringing back the idea, chocolate Clodsire moulds are now a thing.

PokeJungle has shown off these chocolate Clodsire moulds, and while the results are pretty impressive, we imagine it isn't as easy as it looks. Added to this, is a chocolate Clodsire really what you'd want from your loved one on February 14?

These are apparently only available to buy at Pokemon Centers in Japan from February 2, so if you're in the West, you'll have to buy it from third-party retaillers like Meccha Japan. We know 27 years of Pokemon merch might lead to you running out of ideas, but a chocolate Clodsire does feel like it's scraping the barrel.

Pokemon is going all out for Valentine's Day 2024

Valentine's Day Pokemon Merchandise

It seems we aren't alone in our scepticism, as others are confused about why you'd want to receive a chocolate Clodsire. Thankfully, there's a deluge of other love-themed items that are vying for your Pokecoins in 2024. 2023 had the replica Love Ball...and you thought that was weird.

NintendoSoup recently showed off a new range of Valentine's Day merch also available in Japan. From January 20, you'll be able to buy chocolates adorned with Pikachu, as well as plushies, and a mug. This is just a small selection of the sickly-sweet Pokemerch out there, so if you hate February 14, you might want to go into hiding now.
