The leaks are coming thick and fast for the Call of Duty community to thrive on recently, as Modern Warfare 3's thick protective barrier has finally been penetrated.

With an absolute barrage of leaks coming out of the Sledgehammer Games camp, including the first actual confirmation of Modern Warfare 3, some of the finer details of the multiplayer genre are coming to light. Excitingly, this includes the weaponry.

Now, one specific listing of weapons has leaked that an all-time veteran of Call of Duty will be populating the SMG category. If this is true, it means fans will be reliving their glory days.

Leaks suggest the UMP45 is returning in Modern Warfare 3

The UMP45 is a legend of Call of Duty, having been the best gun in Modern Warfare 2 (2009), shredding through enemies at ease and blessed with great mobility and strafe speed.

After years of cries from fans to see the UMP45 reinstalled to the franchise in its original form, it looks like Sledgehammer Games is edging in that direction. According to leaks, the Striker45 (a UMP45 variant) will be one of the new SMGs that will join the list of guns available in Modern Warfare 3

Modern Warfare 3 weapons are being leaked

This leak comes shortly after Call of Duty confirmed that weapons and Operator skins will be carrying over from Modern Warfare 2 to MW3, which will be the first time in history that Call of Duty will be allowing for multi-year bundles.

More new weapons will be available, as the Lach-9 (MP5), WSP-P (Uzi), Rival-9, and SAR have been found as SMGs in the files, all alongside Assault Rifles such as the CDG-58, MCW (ACR), and the MTZ-556.

Maybe Call of Duty 2024 could take notes too, and finally give us a new version of the MSMC for the Gulf War-based game. Then again, it's taken us this long to see the UMP45 reinstated, so we wouldn't hold our breath.
