The Day Before dev blames everyone apart from itself for its failure

A new statement from The Day Before team has left gamers annoyed, as the company lashes out against everyone other than itself for the failure of the game.

Well, The Day Before is finished. That didn't take long. The game that many joked didn't exist before it launched has now officially ceased to exist as a result of poor player numbers, and even in the face of wonky reviews, an unprecedented drop-off.

As a result, the company hit the big red self-destruct button. Rather than try to recuperate and improve, Fntastic has not only destroyed the game itself, but the company at large. It's been one hell of a mess.

After the dust has settled and the gaming industry has accepted the loss, Fntasatic has stepped forward with a statement - and it's ultimately a pretty brutal one.

Fntastic lashes out at the gaming industry in new statement

Fntastic's statement, which has now been deleted on Twitter.

In a deleted and reposted statement on Twitter, Fntastic struck out at "anonymous former employees" and other detractors in a bid to clear its name and explain how The Day Before failed in such a spectacular way.

The post comes for players alleging that the company deceived them, investors, and those telling "different stories about the development." It's all in an incredibly strange lashing out against everyone but itself.

"The negative bias being instilled by certain bloggers making money on hate affected perceptions of the game," says the now-defunct developer. It continues, "Look at unbiased gameplay like Dr. Disrespect’s stream at release. Despite the initial bugs and server issues, he liked the game, which we fixed later."

Doubling down on the idea that we are the problem, Fntastic claimed there were "improved reviews" but added, "Unfortunately, the hate campaign already inflicted significant damage."

Fntastic is trying to cover its ass - and failing

Fans have pointed out that claims of the game featuring "minor changes" are false in community notes, and as a result, Fntastic deleted and reposted the statement to Twitter. Since then, the community note has reappeared to provide context of its claims.

It's hard to keep up with the constant pulling and reposting, but after Fntastic got roasted, it deleted the post yet again. It's absolute carnage in the community for The Day Before, and nobody really knows what's going on behind the scenes.

Making a game is tough. It's arduous, exhausting, and demands immense hard work from its developers. Even though The Day Before is no different, that doesn't give the team an excuse to lash out in this way and try to act as though they've been the victims of an immense smear campaign.

Sometimes, video games suck, and it seems that Fntastic isn't willing to accept that some players thought that of The Day Before with sincerity - without being swayed by naysayers.

This statement is a sad death knell for Fntastic, and it's making it hard for fans to feel bad for them. All things said and done, The Day Before has gone out with an expected whimper.
