Following plagiarism accusations, The First Descendant's developer Nexon has promised to make changes to in-game icons that looked similar to Destiny 2's.

Earlier this week, The First Descendant was accused of copying assets from both Destiny 2 and Warframe, with notable similarities in icons between the free-to-play loot shooter and its two competitors.

With multiple in-game assets looking very close to Bungie and Digital Extremes' work, and some weapons appearing to take direct inspiration from its rivals, Nexon has released a statement to IGN.

“The First Descendant, as a looter shooter game, was developed with a deep affection and respect for other games in the genre," Nexon's statement reads.

"Destiny 2, being a globally renowned looter shooter game, is also personally admired and respected by the team, and it has served as an inspiration during the development process."

"We have taken the concerns raised seriously and decided to make adjustments to ensure that the imagery that may appear similar clearly reflects the unique identity of our game. We will continue to improve the game for fans of the looter shooter genre.”

The issue may have stemmed from a series of 'Destiny Icons' on a database called Iconduck that may have been erroneously listed as being available for personal and commercial purposes.

The First Descendant debuted to strong Steam player count numbers, but many players have criticised its dull quest structure and aggressive microtransactions, with players needing to spend money to skip a lot of the game's inherent grinding.
