As the hype begins to snowball around The Last of Us' television adaptation led by Game of Thrones actors Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. there appears to be room for more to be desired on the gaming front, and a possible The Last of Us trilogy is constantly being yearned for.

The Last of Us Part 2 left the door open for Naughty Dog to continue diving into the story of Ellie and other secondary characters like Abby. Now, the actor behind Abby's movement and voice has stoked the fire by saying there is more to be explored in the troubled villain and that she would be open to continuing Abby's tribulations.

Laura Bailey Would Love To 'Go Back To Play More Abby'

Award-winning actress Laura Bailey has enjoyed quite an extensive career in gaming, recently portraying characters in New Tales from the Borderlands (Fiona), Star Wars: The Old Republic - Legacy of the Sith (Kira Carsen and Darth Krovos), Marvel's Avengers (Black Widow), and Call of Duty: Vanguard (Polina Petrova), but arguably her most impressive performance was with TLOU's Abby.

In an interview with Comic Book Movie, Bailey has insisted that she would love to get back into Abby's shoes again, whose heart-throbbing backstory had fans sympathising with the brutal villain. "I would definitely go back to [Abby]," Bailey told Comic Book Movie. "I know there was a lot of drama and response to her character, but it was one of the most influential roles I’ve had in my life. I would 100% go back to play more Abby".

Could Abby Return In A The Last of Us Trilogy?

[Spolier alert]

Despite being a cold-hearted killer in The Last of Us Part 2, it's revealed that Abby's lust for Joel's blood isn't a power struggle or a bullying burden, but instead an inside exorcism of emotional haunting from losing her father, Jerry, resulting in her becoming hellbent on revenge.

The internal struggle of Abby, whose vengeance is fulfilled, doesn't end with murder. Unwavering guilt accompanies the nightmares and vertigo, that players get to see for themselves, and Abby's complex emotional story is not settled come to the end of Part 2. Although the TV series might eventually dive into the mind of Abby, Bailey's eagerness to continue unravelling Abby could swing Naughty Dog's pendulum in favour of creating a trilogy.

The Last of Us Part 3 could pick up straight after Part 2 as Abby and Lev sail off to regroup with the Fireflies, while Ellie's moral journey also has room to be developed.
