The Last of Us is now on Switch… sort of

The PlayStation-exclusive The Last of Us has arrived on Nintendo Switch in the worst possible way, as a weird clone has appeared on the Nintendo eShop.

When it comes to Sony's impressive array of PlayStation exclusives, we tend to think of Horizon, God of War, and The Last of Us, but as the gaming giant continues its bitter rivalry with Xbox, they're not as exclusive as they once were.

Although you won't be booting up Kratos' god-busting adventures on the Xbox Series X, Sony has made big steps at bringing PC ports of its exclusives to a bigger audience. Much like we can't play any of these adventures on Xbox, it would be odd to explore the zombie apocalypse of The Last of Us on Nintendo Switch.

Although the Switch lacks the graphical grunt that its new-gen counterparts boast, someone has taken matters into their own hands and created a not-so-subtle The Last of Us rip-off for the console.

The Last of Us is on Nintendo Switch - in the worst way possible

If you've been perusing the Nintendo Switch store, you might've come across The Last Hope - Dead Zone Survival. As well as the cover looking a little familiar to the artwork you might find in Naughty Dog's 2013 game or its 2020 sequel, the female character model bears more than a striking resemblance to Ellie.

Only just released at the end of June, the game's description explains promotes this "intense storyline game set in an apocalyptic world overrun by hordes of ravenous zombies." The main character has a sole objective to "survive and find a way to escape the nightmarish chaos that surrounds you."

The screenshots show off some pretty generic gameplay that even makes Grove Street Games' GTA Trilogy look flashy. Nintendo is usually the one that's hot on it with pulling clones of its popular titles, but now, it's Sony's turn.

We're not sure how long The Last Hope - Dead Zone Survival will be around for, but we'd be lying if we didn't say we were at least slightly intrigued. Also, with The Last of Us Part I boasting a $60/£50 price tag, The Last Hope - Dead Zone Survival costing just 99p makes it an absolute bargain.

Is The Last of Us Part 3 coming?

The Last Hope - Dead Zone Survival

If janky clones crapping all over your believed memories of The Last of Us aren't you're thing, there's good news that the long-rumoured The Last of Us Part 3 could be on the way. Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann had previously said he had an outline for a third story, but then backpedalled and said there wouldn't necessarily be a Part 3

The latest rumours claim an ambitious title that could shift away from Ellie as the main protagonist - instead focusing on a group of five diverse survivors. Even though Naughty Dog is yet to comment on the leaks, insiders claim filming on mo-cap could start as early as this year.

We'd always expected The Last of Us Part 3, and with the first two games being some of the greatest of all time, there are high hopes Druckmann will round off a trilogy for the ages. In the meantime, we wonder if The Last Hope - Dead Zone Survival is still on the Nintendo eShop because Naughty Dog is fishing for ideas.
