Cosmetic skins are just as much a part of Call of Duty as they are any other game on the market, and we've reached a stage now where players simply don't care.
Cosmetics have been around for a while for a small fee, and while many took up issue with just how hard Call of Duty went with them when Warzone first launched, fans have now conceded to their appearance. Goofy skins and pop culture crossovers are baked into Call of Duty now just as they are with Fortnite, and players are lapping it up.
And it turns out that their skins are just about ready to turn back the clock.
The original Captain Price could be coming to Call of Duty
It looks like the timeline could be about to split, as the Captain Price that we know and love is about to meet his younger self.
New leaks have indicated that the very first instance of Captain Price, as he appeared in Call of Duty 2, with his full handlebar moustache in tow.
A video of his appearance as an operator in the game has been revealed by leaker squad Task Force Leakers Network, which shows an animation of Price in his original outfit taking a puff from a cigar before throwing it on the floor.
Often, leaks like this can be pretty hard to believe, but this looks pretty convincing if it is fake. After all, Call of Duty has debuted madder skins than a character in his first appearance.
When is OG Captain Price coming to Call of Duty?
We don't have a concrete release date for the new Price skin just yet, but given that Call of Duty is on a pretty big cosmetic kick right now with its Tomb Raider collaboration, it'd be a surprise if the game didn't drop the skin before the launch of the next season.
It's certainly a creative way to approach the legacy of Call of Duty via cosmetic skins, and frankly, it's probably a pretty good idea for Activision. Now give us Price in his camo jumpsuit from that scene, and we'll be set.
