These guns could break your Helldivers 2 game

"War never changes", or so the famous Fallout line goes. Helldivers 2's constantly shifting front, played out against two (possibly soon to be more) enemy factions, is a fantastic case study of how to do games-as-a-service well.

While the latest patch notes did help fix some bugs, and not the kind we've been stomping for the last few weeks), it appears more have sprung up in their place - not unlike a Terminid bug hole.

Here are the weapons you should avoid in Helldivers 2

According to the official Helldivers 2 Discord server, players are seeing freezes while playing, and the issues appear to have been caused by using certain weapons in the game.

"We have identified the cause of the freezes many players have been experiencing, and we're in the process of building a patch to fix it that should be ready to deploy early next week," Community Manager Baskinator explains.

"In the meantime, we advise against using the Arc Thrower, Arc Shotgun, and Tesla Tower as those appear to be linked to the issue. Thank you for your continued patience!"

It's interesting that the weapons mentioned are all of the lightning-spewing variety, so you'll want to stick to lead and explosives for the time being in your quest to spread managed democracy in the name of Super Earth.

Given the patch was intended to fix crashes, it's a nuisance, but at least Arrowhead Game Studios is moving to fix things.

Helldivers 2 is a huge success

As if it was ever in doubt (especially given the way the game's servers could barely keep up at launch), Helldivers 2 is a smashing success for Arrowhead and Sony.

Industry analyst Mat Piscatella of Circana (formerly the NPD group) tweeted that Helldivers 2 is the top-selling game for February, holding off heavy hitters like Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth.

It's also the best-selling game for the year to date, despite launching in February. According to Piscatella, 60% of copies sold were on Steam, marking a big win for Sony which has traditionally launched games on PC after they've hit console.

One of those millions of players is Elden Ring legend 'Let Me Solo Her', and with raid bosses reportedly coming soon, Helldivers 2 could be the everlasting game we've always wanted.
