Titanfall fans are perhaps the most dedicated in the video game space. Titanfall 2 was an absolute belter of a game that didn't deserve its launch, crammed between the latest Battlefield and Call of Duty titles.

Ever since Titanfall 2 released in 2016 - and through assertions from Respawn Entertainment that it isn't in the works - fans have been calling for Titanfall 3. Recent hints have spiralled into theory territory that Titanfall 3 is coming, but now, we don't really know what to think.

Titanfall 2 anniversary tease could hint at Titanfall 3

Fans have been going full Pepe Silvia in the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit, claiming that recent hints from Titanfall are pointing towards a brand new game in the series.

The post accumulates all sorts of cryptic details, like the appearance of some bizarrely-titled game modes in Titanfall 2's menus, and their titles in the backend of the game being things like "anniversaryprep." Remember, Respawn has repeatedly debunked the idea of Titanfall 3.

Fans are now expecting that the 7th anniversary of Titanfall 2 will bring some big news, leading to October 28 being a big moment for the fanbase. That's all well and good, but as we've been burned before, a new reveal has hinted that we may have been wrong all along.

Titanfall 2's hints may just have been for Apex Legends

As fans grow more and more frustrated with the fact that Respawn Entertainment uses hype for Titanfall as a vessel to announce new details about Apex Legends, they're angry once again. It appears the many Titanfall 2 hints point towards the recently revealed Apex Legends character Conduit's reveal video.

Titanfall 2 has risen from the grave with a slew of cryptic updates, which has only infuriated an already disgruntled fandom. One grumbled, "The dream would be a TF3 announcement, but this will likely be something along the lines of 'Apex Legends blah blah blah…' and I'll lose interest."

Another lamented, "Hell, I'd settle for the rumored Apex Legends single player game that was cancelled before it was really announced," while a third guessed, "I'm being very realistic with my optimism here, so my guess is an update to allow cross-play with both consoles and PC, to guarantee a healthy player pool."

The appearance of Titans in Conduit's Stories from the Outlands video has infuriated many, calling it "salt in the would," but there are others still clinging to hope that October 28 will be the best day in franchise history. Only time will tell if it happens, but in the meantime, we're in fandom limbo. Brace for impact.
