There are still people campaigning for the return of the Titanfall series, which comes as a genuine surprise, as we'd definitely have thrown in the towel by now.

Fans continue to beg Respawn Entertainment to return to its mech-shooter title that suffered a horrible release date sandwiched between Battlefield and Call of Duty with its second and (so far) final entry. The Titanfall games were an incredible moment for gaming, but sadly, that moment could be over.

It's clear that Respawn has been trying to wean us off the title with Apex Legends being set in this world, and now, it looks like we have confirmation that Titanfall3 definitely isn't in the works.

There are "no plans" for Titanfall 3

Even as fans look for clues that Respawn Entertainment is secretly working on Titanfall 3 for a surprise release, we simply haven't seen anything besides its narrative crossovers into Apex Legends. That's because it looks like it's been confirmed that there isn't a secret development after all.

In conversation with Barron's, Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella has said that he's very keen to return to the franchise - but not yet. "It has to be the right thing," Zampella says of the idea of going back to Titanfall. It's frustrating considering EA teased Titanfall 3 if players "believe" in it enough.

"It's such a beloved franchise for the fans and also for us. If it is not the right moment in time, the right idea, then it just doesn't make sense." As much as Zampella might be behind the idea of Titanfall 3, it could be time to put it on ice for now. Sob.

It's incredibly sad to hear this news, especially as a few months ago, it was revealed that a brand-new single-player game was in development at EA. It expected to see the streams of Apex Legends and Titanfall cross but was cancelled in a studio shuffle.

There was a lot of potential for this project, and it was incredibly disheartening news for fans of both franchises - but it clearly just wasn't meant to be. Titanfall fans continue to starve, and it sounds like they'll be going hungry for some time. At least when the series comes back, it's going to be a moment.
