Battlefield 2042 has had an incredibly rough launch, and fans aren't letting the team live it down. The game has been absolutely lambasted online, with the traditionally 'vocal minority' group of fans bigger than ever - expressing their unhappiness with Battlefield 2042 across Twitter, Reddit, and the wider internet.
The 2021 title has let a lot of people down, and players aren't afraid to make it known. However, maybe that's not for the best, as now there's every chance that the same negativity that put the Battlefield subreddit on the map could very well take it off again.
Could Battlefield's Subreddit Be Taken Down?
Angry gamers have suddenly found themselves in hot water, as their reaction to a post by one of EA's staff has threatened to shut down their fury HQ. Well, don't say you weren't warned.
EA Global Comms Director Andy McNamara made a tweet that called on angry fans to give developers a break, and, predictably, it didn't go down so well. "Guys, people gotta rest", he said in the now-deleted tweet. "Let us get back from break and get back to work.
"Love you guys but these expectations are brutal. The things you want take time to scope, design, and execute." As you can imagine, rage ensued - but the team isn't taking it anymore."
Battlefield Subreddit Mod Threatens To Shut It Down
The moderator for the official Battlefield 2042 subreddit has come forward with a post threatening to take down the entire subreddit if the community doesn't pack in its constant negativity.
"Over the past few days we have seen insults, harassment and vile comments directed towards members of our community and DICE employees", reads the statement. "We are making this statement warning you that we will not tolerate this anymore."
The post goes on to detail, that if negativity remains consistent, players could have their threads locked. If it gets worse (probably the more likely option), then the entire subreddit could be shut down.
It's a drastic suggestion, but frankly, a little overdue. The negativity in the community has been pretty wretched for some time and definitely needs a hosing down. Pack it in, before it's too late for Battlefield.
