GTA 6 is one of the most highly anticipated releases right now, and leakers and internet sleuths alike have been hunting for clues as to when the game will be announced.
A Twitch account pretending to be a Rockstar official news channel has been banned from the streaming platform for offering fake GTA 6 beta keys.
A fake Rockstar account has been banned on Twitch for a GTA 6 beta scam
A Twitch channel has been banned for offering GTA 6 beta keys in a phishing scam on the streaming platform.
The channel, NewsRockstar, was a Twitch Partner and the stream, titled “GTA6 OUT NOW! [BETA] – Early Access Beta Test – Twitch and Steam Exclusive,” peaked at over 20K viewers in the five hours it was online for.
Naturally, several Grand Theft Auto fans tuned in with the hope of being able to take part in the alleged beta.
It seems that the account was originally created in 2013. This lent credibility to the account which was able to stream with a verified badge.
The scam appears to be a phishing scam which would allow hackers to access the personal details of users who click on the link to the beta.
GTA fans are desperate for information on GTA 6
Part of the reason that the scam was able to work is likely because of how desperate many fans of the GTA franchise are for information about the next game.
A lot of rumours about the game are spreading online, including a rumour that the Australian government has rated it already.
Fans and internet sleuths are also finding hints in almost every post shared on Rockstars social platforms.
We hope for everyone’s sake that GTA 6 information is shared sooner rather than later.
