Call of Duty Next took place on 5 October, with several announcements being made throughout the event regarding the future of  Modern Warfare, Call of Duty and Warzone.

One of the announcements made has revealed that two maps will be returning to Warzone, which has created quite a bit of buzz amongst the Call of Duty community.

Two popular maps are coming back to Warzone next year

After several Call of Duty fans have requested their return, Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island will be coming to Warzone in 2024, in partnership with High Moon Studios and Beenox .

According to CharlieIntel, Call of Duty: Warzone developers confirmed at Call of Duty Next that the two maps would be added into the game after Season 1 ends. Reportedly, Fortune’s Keep will be added first, and Rebirth Island will arrive after.

The Fortune’s Keep map was released in June 2022, as part of Call of Duty: Vanguard season four, however the map was only available to play for four months.

Conversely, Rebirth Island was released in December 2020, as part of Season One of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Fans are excited to be able to play the maps again

Warzone fans have reacted positively to the news that the maps are returning.

“Yes! Call of Duty you listen!” wrote one Twitter user, alongside a heart hands emoji.

Another wrote: “This is a HUGE W… Fortune’s Keep had a super short life… so very excited.”

The introduction of the old maps shows that the Call of Duty developers are eager to give fans what they want and return to some classic locations.

Whether this will mean more old maps which are no longer in use will pop up in the future is yet to be seen, but it has reignited hope in some players that their favourites may see the light of day again in the near future.
