Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov is the 20-year-old VALORANT virtuoso from Russia who is making waves and rewriting the record books. Known for his dynamic gameplay and strategic brilliance, Chronicle stands alone as the first and only player to have clinched three major international titles in VALORANT.
It's a feat that's all the more remarkable considering the game's relatively recent emergence just three years ago. Fans have now started calling Chronicle the GOAT of VALORANT.
The only one with three majors
Nothing stood in the way of Fnatic at VCT Masters Tokyo, as the team won its second international in 2023 and beat the North Americans from Evil Geniuses in the final. The run was especially impressive considering Fnatic beat all of the top four teams in their run to the trophy - not least due to Chronicle's rock-solid performances.
According to VALORANT statistics website vlr.gg, Chronicle finished as the third highest-rated player at the event, only ranked behind his teammates Emir "Alfajer" Beder and Leo "Leo" Jannesson, with an impressive K/D of 1.33.
Chronicle's journey to success began with Gambit Esports, where he made a name for himself in VCT Masters Berlin in 2021. In November 2022, Chronicle joined forces with the esports powerhouse of Fnatic.
Accompanied by Alfajer and Leo, Chronicle has since added two more major titles to his record: The LOCK//IN event in São Paulo in March and most recently, the VCT Masters Tokyo 2023.
Throughout these victories, Chronicle exhibited impressive versatility, mastering a variety of Controller Agents, in stark contrast to his more Sova-focused approach with Gambit. With three major trophies under his belt, fans have started to recognise him as the greatest player of all time.
Can he make it four?
Chronicle and his Fnatic team now look forward to the VCT Champions 2023 set to begin in early August. Having already qualified and been hailed as favourites, Fnatic aims to secure yet another victory.
The team's dominant performance thus far has even secured a fifth qualification spot for their EMEA peers for this highly-anticipated event.
The journey to the upcoming championship was not without its challenges. At least initially, Evil Geniuses came within an inch of winning their first match in the upper bracket by pushing Fnatic to a nail-biting Bo5.
Nevertheless, Fnatic emerged victorious and marched on to the grand finals, in which they made quick work of EG with a decisive 3-0 victory. As Chronicle prepares for the VCT Champions 2023, the question that looms large is whether Fnatic can make history once more by claiming all of the major titles of the year.
