A new VALORANT Omen bug is turning maps into nothing but purple smog, and it has the potential to completely uproot games.

As a game, VALORANT is pretty tactically-heavy. As such, it needs to be as streamlined as anything so as not to be roasted by fans. The slightest indiscretion on Riot Games leads to all hell breaking loose in the game's community, and what with the highly competitive elements of the game, the complaints are valid.

When VALORANT demands your absolute best and can't meet you there with its development, it's hugely frustrating. And now, a new VALORANT Omen bug is dominating maps in the most literal way possible.

New Omen bug is turning the whole map to smoke

A bizarre Omen bug has appeared in VALORANT, running matches by turning the entire map into Omen's purple smoke. Worse than this, it's trapping them in a world between worlds.

The bug itself has been shared in a video on Reddit by user K0DY_Lumine, and they seem pretty confused about it. They claim to have spawned into the game purely in Omen's purple smoke mode, struggling to see anything beyond the haunting outlines of the map.

After about 30 seconds, they're able to actually escape the smoke world, but it's still a difficult situation to be caught in, not knowing where to turn or who to aim for.

Why are players getting lost in VALORANT's smoke?

Omen's smoke as it appears in a regular VALORANT game.

It's supposed to be a brief snippet of what you see, but for whatever reason, the player has been trapped in this void. Fans have been engaging with the post in the comments, wondering what exactly could have caused such an issue, and they're going full detective.

Many are enquiring about the OP's ping, suggesting that there could be some kind of packet loss along the way as the player loaded into the game - but regardless of what caused the bug, it's definitely not a good look. The likes of Brimstone and Astra have their own ways of placing smoke, but they (so far) seem unaffected.

This is another problem that players don't really need, although we're yet to see other instances of Omen's smoky landscape. Still, with a shooter that has so much focus on bringing your A-game every time, it's a shame to see that Riot Games can't.
