Verdansk’s Warzone return reportedly bracing for more delays

The return of Verdansk to Call of Duty: Warzone's is one of its big talking points, but apparently, it could be hit with another deal as developers are reportedly 'behind' schedule.

As Warzone's best map ever, Verdansk has always been the high that the developers have been chasing. But much like that first caffeine rush from your morning coffee, everything after just doesn't hit the same - we're especially looking at you, Caldera.

In a bid to revive the battle royale, Treyarch has reportedly been in cahoots with Raven Software about bringing back Verdansk after the release of its own Resurgence map when Black Ops 6 arrives.

Following initial reports that Verdansk won't be ready for Black Ops 6's launch, new leaks claim that the map won't be ready for Season 1 either. If this is the case, it might not be out until mid-way through the game's cycle.

Verdansk re-release is 'behind on project deadlines'

According to new reports from "BobNetworkUK", Raven Software is apparently "behind on project deadlines", which has left Verdansk out in the snowy cold.

After originally being planned for Season 1 like the rest of the Warzone map ports, Bob claims that the map is set for Season 2 at the very earliest. This means we'd have to wait until after Christmas before dropping back into our GOATed stomping ground. Even though Season 2 seems like the best-case scenario, it could be even later.

The leaker claims that Verdansk will be rather different from the original and won't be a simple port of old assets. Instead, the OG map is likely to include a number of changes to the landscape, possibly as a result of the damage to the area after the Cold War saga.

The team is presumably trying to keep the map somewhat similar so that the nostalgia still hits, but different enough so that it's not a gimmick that grows tired after a month. With a Gulf War-set Black Ops 6 just around the corner, we're intrigued to see how things have changed. Hopefully, that original Verdansk magic will still be there.
