Even 11 years after it was first released, the team at Digital Extremes is proving that there's plenty of life left in Warframe. The free-to-play action RPG has been going from strength to strength since it introduced cross-play in 2022 and found a whole new fandom with its iOS release in 2024.

Now, the Warframe team has announced that its Jade Shadows update is going live today (June 18). Rolling out on all platforms, Jade Shadows introduces the game's 57th Warframe and brings back a familiar foe from the franchise's past.

Warframe's latest Cinematic Update adds a lore-rich single-player quest and puts Jade in the mix as the latest Warframe. Jade Shadows also boasts a new mission type and Clan Operation, as well as fresh cosmetics and a returning legend.

Taking to the skies as Jade, she "heralds both life and death across the Origin System’s many battlefields," boasting three new weapons: the Evensong bow, Cantare throwing knives, and Harmony scythe. Put Jade to the test in the new Ascension mission type.

Here, you have to "initiate an emergency evacuation from marauding Corpus forces to embark on a gruelling ascent through enemy-infested elevator shafts." Playing Ascension missions helps you acquire Motes, which can be exchanged for the parts and blueprints you need to craft Warframe Jade.

After this, you can tackle the new Belly of the Beast Clan Operation. Squadding up to master Ascension, you're also asked to complete community objectives to unlock the new energy aura Ephemera, which is themed around legends of the "Jade Light."

Of course, the other big news is the return of the Stalker. As the Stalker has appeared in some of Warframe's most iconic moments, his reappearance is surrounded by intrigue. New cosmetics include a ship skin themed after the Stalker, a deluxe Warframe Yareli skin, and a bundle of TennoGen additions that includes a new Lavos skin and Equinox Omni helmet.

Community Director Megan Everett cheered the new update and added, "Players can finally try on the brooding shoes of our favorite mystery man, the Stalker. Along with answering some burning questions about his backstory, Jade Shadows brings so much more to the table like our 57th Warframe, Jade, one of the most unique and special Warframes we've ever made.

"This update is stuffed with tons and we all hope you enjoy unpacking it all before the excitement of TennoCon next month, where fans can meet the voice of the Stalker himself, Gianni Matragrano!"

If you can't wait to play, there are detailed patch notes for the Jade Shadows update.
