There's a lot riding on Warzone 2. Perhaps unfairly. It might seem like a lot of pressure, but Infinity Ward seems up to the challenge. As it turns out, a new Warzone 2 map leak suggests it could offer much more than its predecessor ever could.
The reputation that Warzone has garnered has been pretty rough all things considered, with its problems in glitches, hackers, and weapon imbalances dissecting it as an experience. Call of Duty fans are sick to death of the way that Warzone has turned out, but now that a sequel is on the way from an entirely different team, fans are hoping it can tidy the game up much better than the original could.
What Is The Warzone 2 Map Leak?
According to a pretty massive Warzone 2 map leak, Infinity Ward currently has multiple maps in development. This means Warzone 2 is potentially taking up the model that the first game did by offering one main map and another with a more arcade-y style.
In its earlier stages, Warzone boasted Verdansk, as well as Rebirth Island as a separate map that gave fans another way to experience the game. Tom Henderson has revealed (via Exputer) that a source in the playtest for the game has said that an extra map was seen in the menus - but it was unplayable at the time of testing, as it is still in early development.
It's thought that the new Warzone 2 map will be of a similar size to Rebirth Island, so thankfully players will be left with plenty of choices when it comes to how they want to experience Warzone in its new form. But, it might not be there right away.
When Will More Warzone 2 Maps Arrive?
Henderson's report suggests that the second map, set to fill the shoes of Rebirth Island, is likely to arrive in the game in the second year of its lifecycle. Critics have called out the OG Warzone for its inability to give us a choice between Verdansk, Verdansk '84, and Caldera, but what if Warzone 2 has a rotating map system instead?
If the Warzone 2 map leak is to be believed - and given the trend that the original Warzone has followed - it'll give fans a chance to get used to the main map before moving on. The pressure is on for Infinity Ward to pull off this huge task, but so far, it looks like the team is up to it. Let's hope that the fans agree, because heaven knows they're hard to please.
