In order to keep Warzone 2 Ranked as fair as possible, the devs restrict certain weapons and attachments that are deemed too strong.
Currently, these bans include the KV Broadside shotgun, Dragon's Breath ammunition, Riot Shields, and of course, Explosive ammunition for snipers.
Following the Season 4 Reloaded patch, more guns have been added to the Warzone 2 Ranked ban list. The two new restricted weapons have been absurdly strong since the update, with the ability to wield them akimbo making them both unstoppable at close quarters.
X13 Auto & Basilisk banned from Warzone 2 Ranked
Taking to Twitter on July 18, Treyarch Studios announced that the X13 Auto and Basilisk had been restricted from Warzone 2 Ranked.
The devs assured players that the decision had been made with the goal of delivering "competitive and fair matches." Not only that, these restrictions are "updated based on data and feedback," with there always being a possibility that the guns could return to Ranked in the future.
Why have X13 Auto & Basilisk been restricted in WZ2 Ranked?
The X13 Auto and Basilisk have completely taken over the close-range meta following the Season 4 Reloaded update. According to WZRanked, the X13 Auto holds an astounding 20.7% pick rate, while the Basilisk sits at around 9.2%.
As a result, the akimbo loadouts for both of these secondaries are dominating the meta, and the devs have clearly identified that they're too strong for Ranked. While we can expect a nerf for these weapons very soon, the restrictions mean that Ranked will be more competitive and fair in the meantime.
