An abundance of Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 players are convinced that rotational aim assist has been nerfed in Season 5, as reports have emerged claiming that it has been toned down at range or is simply not working at all for some players.

Rotational aim assist is Call of Duty's bane, with many players loving it because it makes shooting so easy, but others hate it for the same reason; while it's a great tool for the lesser skilled sharpshooters, it has warped so far that there is no skill gap in terms of gun accuracy.

But now it seems like Season 5 has chopped aim assist down significantly, and could have even removed it altogether.

Warzone streamers claim aim assist has been silent nerfed

The controversial feature has often had people calling for aim assist's removal, especially professional players and PC gamers.

But now, after many reports of its malfunction since Season 5 started, content creator TheTacticalBrit has now provided 'proof' that it isn't working as intended.

The creator said, "Dunno if it is a bug, intended, unintended, but after a few meters, rotational breaks off in strength," before backing it with "Aim assist has 1000% been nerfed in Warzone 2".

The developers have not stated that an aim assist change has been deployed, nor have they confirmed that it is amongst the list of bugs, akin to the night vision goggles glitch.

Has Aim Assist been nerfed in Warzone Season 5?

TheTacticalBrit has now shown off a video where aim assist is not working at certain lengths. The content creator showed that there was a pull of your aim when at almost point-blank range, but when he moved to a medium distance away, the function seemed to be non-existent.

Others have claimed it's not changed though. Warzone esports mogul Thomas "Tommey" Trewren refuted the claims, saying, "Mine feels the same [as before]."

Players have also found that this is the case for Modern Warfare 2 online servers too, not just Warzone, as Assualt Rifles are not snapping onto targets as they usually would.

In the wake of XDefiant, which has little-to-no aim assist, this could be quite an interesting and drastic change for Call of Duty, attempting to tackle its competitors head-on, while making it harder to play for some lesser-skilled CoD fans.
