Just weeks after Season 4 arrived in Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 as one of the most jamp-packed updates yet, the Call of Duty developers are splitting like a banana and peeling back some of their brand-new features.

With the arrival of Vondel in Warzone, Raven Software and Beenox also decided to implement a weather system on the map. It was intended to add fog around certain areas of the Amsterdam-inspired landscape in a random pattern.

But while it's been a success in DMZ, the same can't be said for Warzone. The devs have seemingly taken note and are dialling back the feature before complaints get worse.

Warzone's dynamic fog system has been more than we bargained for

The dynamic fog element was initially met with an overwhelming essence of scepticism and caution amid performance woes, despite it serving as another layer of randomness that has been severely lacking from Warzone in recent months.

However, the fog has been cascading over Vondel all too frequently, and its left Warzone players quite under the weather, with visibility being increasingly poor.

But not for too long, as the developers have now confirmed that they are toning down the number of times that the dynamic weather arrives in the battle royale game mode, taking a U-turn on their original plan.

Warzone devs reveal dynamic fog U-turn

Taking to social media, Raven Software revealed that it is dialling back the volume of matches which are affected by the fog, making Vondel a much clearer place to shoot each other on.

The update didn't alter the frequency it arrives in DMZ though, with the tactical extraction game mode being benefitted by some more dynamic elements.

These changes haven't removed the fog altogether, which is sure to be much to the communities dismay, as disgruntled gamers hoped to see the back of the hazy screens.
