Tap, tap, boom! The days of Warzone being a gun-heavy bullet-flying battleground are over as Urzikstan has been decked out with ropes, and the bells are dinging, awaiting a major KO.

This year, guns are becoming an afterthought in Warzone, as players are opting to wield their inner Mike Tyson and just punch their way through games, as melee damage is becoming an increasingly popular way of taking down foes.

Why? Well, because the melee is broken in Warzone, but the developers are on the case, investigating the issue ahead of a fix.

Meleeing is broken in Warzone

One player named "TCaptainX" posted a video to social media to summarise a scrap that players will be all too familiar with in Warzone.

Given the higher health bars and lower TTK in Warzone this year, players have found that meleeing is much easier when it comes to dealing damage at close range, especially as there's a glitch which you can literally smack a foe from across the room like Inspector Gadget.

TCaptainX's video shows the melee damage working at crazy range, easily outperforming an SMG, and sending the player to the Gulag straight off the rip.

"Is there any chance you guys could look into addressing melee lunge in Warzone? It's been a problem for... well... a while," the player quizzed.

"Melee damage is broken right now. Two wacks with a pistol should not kill faster than me spraying them with a Swarm," another player added.

Warzone devs promise to fix melee range

In a nice turn of events though, Raven Software has now added melee damage to its list of "known issues" on their official Trello board, and has promised to take a look at a rework.

"We're investigating an issue causing some Melee hits to do more damage than intended," they wrote.

Although this was just added on January 9, this doesn't actually note the broken range of a melee, but it does look like there will be a tweak to the damage output, maybe altering this so it takes one extra punch.

If you are still wanting to ditch the guns for a fistfight though, you've still got some time to get your gloves out and box your way through Warzone before the fix comes into play. Yippie Kayak, other buckets.
