Without being unking, Warzone has been a little all over the place for fans ever since it debuted and made its biggest splash during the pandemic. Still, one thing that fans have felt pretty constant about is the game's maps.

Verdansk was, with little doubt, one of the most revered maps in the franchise's history. Players were truly sorry to say farewell to it before the appearance of Warzone Caldera.

Now that we're in a new era of Call of Duty battle royale experiences, we need to brace for more farewells. Despite a frosty debut, it seems fans aren't ready to say goodbye to the map that laid the groundwork for Warzone 2.0.

Fans brace for Warzone's Modern Warfare 3 integration

The next era of Warzone is upon us as the integration of Modern Warfare 3 looms over the game, and as change comes for the game, recruits are preparing to say goodbye to the things they've loved about Warzone 2.0 so far.

The biggest loss we're expected to take is Al Mazrah, the map that welcomed players into the next generation of the game in the first place. Even if Al Mazrah isn't quite up there with the OG Verdansk in terms of love, we were just getting used to it ahead of Urzikstan's imminent arrival.

Of course players were bitter when the game first launched, as many felt Al Marzah couldn't compare to Verdansk - but they warmed to it over time. Now, one Reddit post has compiled all of the fans' stirring emotions in the face of its vanishing.

"People saying this map wasn't good are smooth brained," says one comment in response to some users claiming that Al Mazrah was, a poor map. "Every warzone map that came out was pretty damn good. I can’t speak much on Caldera because Vanguard was a heap of actual garbage."

"I liked Al-Mazrah; not too dense not too open," adds another. "I like the vibe." A third said, "It's not as good as Verdansk but its infinitely better than that which I won't even name," while someone concluded, "It's a good map just 30% too big and needed better final circles. Should have been made smaller when they reduced the lobby sizes."

Not everyone was a fan, with the current top comment reading, "Nope. Al Mazrah is bad map. Awful design. So much open spaces..." Another hater added, "I feel it really gave a large advantage to any team waiting in a POI and was a downside any team having to push into a POI."

There might be those who refuse to see the brighter side of Al Mazrah, but every map has its defenders, and quite rightly, too. Yes, that even includes Caldera. Al Mazrah might not have been perfect, but dammit, it was ours.
