Warzone fans are tired of ‘useless’ cutscene before every match

Warzone fans are tired of the "useless" cutscene featuring Phillip Graves that plays out before every single Battle Royale match, arguing it needs to be removed.

Unlike Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer where it feels like you can dive into the action almost instantly, Warzone is a little different.

After queueing for a match, you have to sit through a long loading screen and then head to the pre-game lobby for 60 seconds. All of this may test competitors' patience, but there's a "useless" part of the process that players want scrapped immediately.

Following the lobby, you're served with a cutscene featuring Philip Graves, who hands you your parachutes and tells you to get into the plane ready for the mission.

This mini clip featuring the fan-favourite character was interesting at first, but it's run its course, and now, has turned into what fans describe as the "longest 3 minutes in history."

Warzone players want Phillip Graves' cutscene scrapped

Taking to the Warzone subreddit, user Mindless_Anxiety_593 decided to point out their problem with the cutscene that plays before every match, complaining that they "can't believe we still have to listen to him."

It's clear the community is "fed up" with this intro and finds it "mind-blowing" that the devs haven't realised how annoying it is.

"They managed to take one of the most popular new characters from the MW reboot and make him the most despised character," said one fan after listening to the cutscene a few too many times, with another arguing, "It's become like white noise to me now."

With Season 1 Reloaded kicking off on January 17, it'll be interesting to see whether Graves' briefing remains in the game. While there's hope it will disappear, fans are speculating it may stick around until Season 2.

CoD fans argue cutscene is used to "showcase skins"

So, what's the point of this Graves' cutscene? Well, some fans believe it's just a chance to get a fan-favourite character on screen, while others have a more cynical view.

They argue the sole purpose of the intro is to "showcase skins" before a match, making it more likely that competitors will buy an Operator cosmetic in the long run after seeing them so much. In the heat of battle down on Urzikstan, it's very difficult to notice skins, so this may be true.

With the next major patch scheduled for January 17, we'll have to see whether Graves departs Warzone, or whether he continues handing out more parachutes for another few months.
