Warzone players have slammed the devs for ruining the Massive Resurgence mode with an absolutely 'terrible' change and leaving the fan-favourite in a sorry state.

The Haunting is well underway in Warzone, and the spooky season has brought Diablo 4’s The Butcher, nighttime maps, and plenty of jump scares. Despite this, one of the main attractions for Battle Royale fans has been the Massive Resurgence mode on Al Mazrah.

This pits 150 players against each other in a huge action-packed lobby with respawns. Well, at least it used to, as the devs have made a major change to the mode for Halloween. Deciding to reduce the player count, it's safe to say developers have annoyed the CoD community once again.

Warzone devs reduce Massive Resurgence playercount from 150 to 100

Taking to Twitter on October 18, Warzone devs announced that the Massive Resurgence mode's player count has been reduced from 150 to 100. They did make it clear that this reduction will "only remain active on night maps for the duration of The Haunting."

This decision has left a lot of the community confused, as the best part about this mode is how many players can take part. Reducing how many competitors are in one lobby only makes the matches less fun and action-packed.

Warzone fans slam Massive Resurgence change as 'massive L'

The Haunting Warzone

As expected, this news has been met with a hefty wave of backlash from fans, describing the adjustment as a "massive L" from the devs. For them, it makes no sense to make this change from a gameplay perspective, so it must be a server limitation or a backend problem.

"Funny how y'all use the tools emoji as if you're fixing something that was a problem, you're just making the game worse for everyone,” said one user, with another asking, "Why can’t we have 150 players in any matches anymore, old gen can’t handle it."

A lot of the comments aren’t even players slamming the devs for the change, it's just them expecting a form of explanation. While there's no denying fans are unhappy with the player count reduction, more communication would certainly help to put out the flames.
