When Halloween comes calling, Call of Duty answers with its arms wide open. When Halloween comes calling, Call of Duty opens the graves and gateways from hell. When Halloween comes calling, Call of Duty lets the dead come crawling.

The Call of Duty series is letting satan and his minions through their borders and with it comes a barrel of jumpscares, horrifying Operator skins, and darkness descending over the maps.

But Warzone fans are less than impressed. In fact, just as The Haunting arrives in the battle royale for the second time, the community has been left bitterly disappointed as the main attraction has been held back for "drip feeding".

As part of The Haunting, Call of Duty promised a Zombie Royale. The Vondead nightmare mode was set to chuck in limb-missing undead hordes that will hunt you down, gnash the flesh of your gulagged corpse, and gatekeep your loot to the iron bank of hell.

However, the developers have seemingly decided that too many frights might send some of us searching for a real self-revive, and have opted to drip-feed the horrors into the game by holding back on Zombie Royale.

Even though The Haunting is now live, players will have to wait until October 20 for Zombie Royale to be playable, which has really rubbed fans up the wrong way.

Warzone fans slam devs for 'drip feeding' Halloween content

This mid-season event launch has been one of the most highly-anticipated content releases that Warzone has ever had, given that they have poured a massive effort into creating top-quality skins and finally honoured this new wave of Call of Duty games with diverse content that isn't simply shooting each other in a new location.

So, players have now expressed their displeasure at Zombie Royale's omission.

"Why are you drip-feeding what should be one of the best updates in forever?" quizzed popular Zombies content creator "TheGamingRevolution".

Others took a more direct approach. Another community figure in "HunterTV" said, "You guys can’t do anything right with these playlists," while another fan added, "Biggest anti-climax of the year from you guys, and that's saying something."

It is only a few days before Zombie Royale comes, but it's a sign of the times when the developers are taking the live-action drip-feed approach to special events, not just the game releases.
