Although we always knew Warzone Season 6 was the penultimate update in Modern Warfare 2's life cycle, that didn't stop the major patch from bringing brand-new weapons and a whole lot more.
These new additions to our arsenal came in the form of the TR-76 Geist, the ISO 9mm, and Dual Kamas melee weapon. While solid weapons, the community were disappointed that the patch didn't introduce another LMG.
For the longest time, competitors have been calling for a new bulky weapon that can beam foes from afar, but Activision once again opted for another AR and SMG.
That's why it was so exciting for players to learn that a light-machine gun and another assault rifle were still on the cards for midway through Season 6. However, with Modern Warfare 3 about to launch, it's been speculated that the guns have been scrapped.
Bruen MK9 & FR 5.56 were expected in Warzone Season 6
As showcased by Whosimmortal and leaked by DETONATED, the Bruen MK9 LMG and FFAR 5.56 AR were leaked as coming to Warzone during Season 6.
This is because the weapons were found inside a set of official Warzone Mobile patch notes and listed as new content. With Warzone Mobile, Warzone, and MW2 all sharing the same weapon updates, it would make sense that the devs had planned to add the Bruen MK9 and FFAR 5.56 AR to Warzone.
Another clue can be found on the weapon mastery charms for the ISO 9mm and Dual Kamas, which indicate there were one of five weapons planned for Season 6.
However, on the TR-76 Geist mastery charm, it only says one of three. This suggests there was a change of plan just before the release of Season 6, with the devs potentially scrapping the remaining two weapons.
Warzone fans worried new Season 6 guns have been scrapped
The evidence from the weapon mastery charms has players concerned that the Bruen MK9 and FFAR 5.56 may have been "cancelled" completely.
This would make sense given Modern Warfare 3's full release is on November 10 and the fact there's very little time for another MW2 content patch to go live.
Not only that, MW3 has a campaign early access period as well, so Activision will likely want the community to focus on that instead of MW2 multiplayer.
One slither of hope voiced by WhosImmortal was the weapon update that came for MW2019 two months after Cold War released, adding brand-new weapons. Maybe Activision has plans to add the Bruen MK9 and FFAR 5.56 to MW2 after MW3's release, but we'll just have to wait and see.
