In years gone by, Warzone’s most-feared kill streak has been the precision air strike, causing carnage on the map and forcing players into shells.
The bombardment has proved to be both a useful tool for racking up kills and a savvy way of gaining map positioning.
But it’s finally been nerfed four years later, and now players are calling out the developers for making it "useless".
Precision Airstrike nerfs are hitting Warzone hard, or soft...
In Warzone Season 2, Precision Airstrikes have now been "fixed" as the previous iteration of the streak and its corresponding UI notifications were often bug-ridden and didn't appear for players in many cases, which made the devastation explosions rather frustrating.
Now, the banner is consistent, but the developers have also ramped the UI up even more, and have shown the blast zone and direction of the strike on the mini-map, meaning enemies can make a quick exit from the radius.
Taking to a popular Reddit post, one player quizzed. "Is it just me or with the addition of showing the blast zone of precision airstrikes now, the kill streak has become pretty much useless in Warzone?"
Warzone players woe 'useless' Precision Airstrikes
Having seen the change come into play for the last week, players are already rather fed up with calling in the streak just to see everyone flee in a heartbeat and regroup almost immediately.
"I’m glad they made the change to show the banner when you walk into one now, but I really think the minimap area is overkill and kind of takes a lot of fun out of the game," the Redditor added.
Other fans quickly agreed, with one adding, "It’s a garbage change, it takes the challenge out of avoiding and makes them less functional or worthwhile. I don’t know a "battle royale" that coddles its player base more severely than Warzone."
It now seems like the only use for a Precision Airstrike is as a finisher to downs that you get, most often being a savvy tool to go alongside snipers, allowing you to send a crawling opponent to the Gulag.
