With so many shooters making the move to mobile, Call of Duty: Mobile was expected to be massively popular. Lo and behold, it remains an absolute banger.
Though it hasn't remained at the forefront of the Call of Duty conversation because Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone have largely taken those spots, it's still hugely popular. Much like PUBG and Apex Legends (that is, before Apex Legends Mobile's collapse), it's especially popular in the East.
As Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile threatens to obliterate the competition with its 25 million pre-registrations, fans are pointing out that a huge change is set to come to the archetype that we thought we knew. That's right, kids - Warzone is going third-person.
Warzone Mobile will have a third-person mode
After the sole weekend in which we saw Warzone go third-person, fans fell in love with the prospect before the rug was pulled from under them. Now, a chance to return has reared its head - and it's in our pockets.
The addition of third-person modes to Warzone Mobile was hinted at earlier this year in patch notes, but it finally looks like the team is working on an update that introduces it permanently. Think like when Fortnite added Zero Build.
TPP (Third-Person Perspective) is set to be added to the game as a separate Warzone Mobile mode, so you won't be able to change perspective on the fly. Either way, it's a fantastic addition that means players could find their talents lie in an over-the-shoulder view. But, there seems to be a problem.
Does third-person Warzone Mobile have a release date?
Well, that didn't take long. Responding to a report of the news, one user has shared a poll, asking players if they think the addition of the mode will be a good thing in Warzone Mobile - and 52% of users have voted that it's a bad idea.
It's a pretty meagre response to the addition of the mode that players simply don't have to play if they don't want to - but hey, they're Call of Duty fans. We can't expect too much positivity here. For those who have an aversion to FPS games, it's still a win.
If that wasn't enough, someone else tagged the official Call of Duty account to ask for clarification. The announcement was apparently made too early, as officials replied, "Well, the quick update is that this was an error and this should be coming later.
"We'll update later and include this info in patch notes once we have it confirmed." They said it was an error, but should be coming later. Stay tuned!" So while we still know Warzone Mobile is getting a third-person perspective, it's not ready to be unveiled just yet.
