Warzone Mobile looks to be adding gambling mechanics for exclusive skins

Warzone Mobile appears to be implementing a gambling service to unlock exclusive skins, which could set a worrying precedent.

Warzone Mobile, before its launch, has already begun to rile up the long-standing Call of Duty community, and now its most divisive feature is set to return.

After already splitting the community between feeble fingerers and colossal controllers and maintaining its pay-driven Aim-Assist stance, Warzone Mobile is continuing its rampant controversy, should its app store listing be believed.

As per Apple, Warzone Mobile is throwing in some exclusive skins to handheld users, but only if you gamble away your cash, and sanity, to earn them.

Warzone Mobile set to add gambling loot caches

Much like the questionable loot-acquiring system in Call of Duty: Mobile, Warzone Mobile appears to be following suit, as it looks set to add "Keep" to the app, serving as the battle royale version of Lucky Draw.

The Lucky Draw works by gambling currency on loot caches in the hope of getting RNG-based items like skins and weapon blueprints, a system that is frowned upon by many.

This kind of system, heavily popularised by FIFA (EA FC) with its Packs, has been banned in certain countries, removed from other Activision titles, and is on the hit list for campaigners to remove, in favour of the standard bundle-based microtransactions.

Previous job listings hinted towards this feature being added to Warzone Mobile, and it appears it was given the all-clear despite some pushback from fans.

Warzone Mobile's new gambling system will open up Mobile-only skins

Apple's description of the Keep system also includes the notion that all skins and customisation features will be exclusive to the platform.

This comes in the wake of Warzone Mobile's cross-platform progression system that allows all console (Warzone and MW3) skins to transfer over to the app, and vice versa.

Unfortunately for those players on Warzone Mobile who wanted to flex their platform priorities, it might cost you an arm and a leg to unlock some legendary rewards, but you'll be pulled in by the minuscule hail-mary odds of getting one in your first pack. Or the next one. Or the next one...
