Warzone nerfs Aim Assist for the first time ever and fans are overjoyed

For years, Aim Assist has plagued Call of Duty. All you need to do is load up one of the legacy games (soon slated for a Game Pass release), and you'll realise that aiming nowadays is almost automatic.

This is especially true for snipers, which previously never had Aim Assist and now serve as the stickiest weapons of all. But it looks like Aim Assist has finally crossed a line. 

As snipers have run riot on Warzone for months, the developers have now nerfed the Kar98k, and it comes with a first-ever negative charge for Aim Assist.

Warzone nerfs the Kar98k by axing Aim Assist 

The Kar98k has been Warzone's most divisive weapon in years. It's completely overpowered but also rather fun for the sweats, which has made the incoming nerfs quite dramatic. But alas, Season 4 Reloaded has brought in three changes to the devilish gun.

The Kar98k will now have a decrease in maximum damage range (meaning it's less powerful at long range), a reduction in bullet velocity, and modified controller aim assist properties to align with Sniper Rifles rather than Marksman Rifles.

This is the first time in history that a weapon has actively had its Aim Assist nerf, and fans are pleased with the change because it keeps the weapon pretty powerful but much harder to use.

Although the new Kar98k fans, those who have been taking advantage of its cheese, are disappointed, others have hailed this change which now requires a lot more skill.

One fan took to Twitter to praise the change, saying, "I can’t wait for all of these Kar98K-made, one-hit-wonder, thirty-party players to be brought back to reality today. Enjoy your three kills going forward."

"The number of Kar98k shots being missed today is beautiful," another fan said. Others have now pointed out that this is possible for other guns, too, and it's a shame the developers haven't toned it down earlier.

"The fact that they can adjust the aim assist anytime they want but they don't is criminal," a third concluded. Aim Assist still proves meddlesome, but it's clear to see that the game can survive without it - you just need to be a better sharpshooter.
