Warzone players beg for duos love after making way for Halloween LTMs

All these Halloween gimmicks in September? Nope, players already want the core playlists back.

Warzone Duos

The battle royale genre as we know it might be on its last legs, but that doesn't mean the Call of Duty community is ready to give up on the tactical large-scale maps just as easily as Activision is.

The developers have completely neglected Urzikstan during Season 6, focusing new LTMs on Resurgence maps while keeping the playlists for the respawn-activated modes populated. But just one week into Season 6, players are calling for the return of their most popular core game modes.

Warzone fans demand Duos return

Season 6 has seen a range of game modes be added for The Haunting event. So far, Purgatory has been a solid hit with its wacky floating Shipment island and Apex Legends-stolen boost pads, while a new nighttime mode for Vondel has left other corners of the fan base green with envy.

Yet these modes have come as a replacement for some core playlists, such as duos, leaving the standard game out in the cold again.

"How has it been over a month (probably longer) that we haven't had big map duos? It's insane to me that they can't figure out that they need to keep all squad sizes for big map," one user wrote on Reddit, complaining that the core playlists have been replaced.

It wouldn't be the first time that the publishers have been accused of forgoing the older generation of players who stand by the game through thick and thin. Abandoning those who don't just come back for something shiny, as Activision dished out free battle passes to returning players.

As for the game modes, though, the Reddit post gained a lot of support. Most players are baffled as to why the core experience is damaged - and not complimented - by LTMs.

"They try to do too many things at once. Never, should they ever, take out a core game mode on the flagship map," another fan agreed in a popular comment.

"If not as many people play duos for example, that shouldn’t be my problem. If Resurgence is more popular, then make it a stand-alone game. But I’ve never played a game where a part of the main game, is taken away for part of the time, randomly."

A third added, "The funny thing is at the start of the year they said they were no longer going to remove any of the core playlists from the big map. And they’ve done it multiple times now," pointing out how Raven Software previously said that they would be collecting data to keep core playlists alive and well.

The free-to-play game will be in for quite a shakedown when Black Ops 6 integrates in Season 1, with Treyarch wanting to put its own stamp on the genre before re-adding Verdansk.
