Is it just me or is Warzone pretty tough nowadays? Yes, skill-based matchmaking was rife and rough in the opening of the battle royale, but I was a demon back then. Or so I thought. Now, all the 'bots' are gone, and the Warzone experience is tougher than ever before, and it's begun to get noticed by the mass audience.
Unfortunately, Warzone doesn't have a player count, although we know more than 50 million players have ditched the Call of Duty franchise in the last year.
Some, such as Seth "Scump" Abner have identified the lack of a Warzone ranked mode for this drop-off, but regardless of the reason, everyone that remains appears to be super sweaty.
Warzone Players Blame Skill-Gap On Decreasing Player Numbers
A viral Reddit thread from u/swat7334 has claimed that "the Warzone skill level of the player base is crazy," detailing that while their average lobby K/D has persisted at around a solid 1.0, since the start of the game, the opponents in the current day are mostly bunny-hopping, slide-cancelling, deadly-accurate phenoms.
"I’ve recently watched some high kill games from streamers posted a few years ago when warzone was new at the skill level is completely different," added the Reddit user, comparing a 1.0 K/D lobby at the moment to those back in Verdansk.
"I know this is to be expected with the age of Warzone now and the declining player count but I find it crazy," they concluded.
Why Is Warzone So Hard Now?
Now that more than 50 million players have tailored off, the competition has inevitably sharpened. However, fans also identified other reasons why Warzone is harder now.
One comment claimed, "I’m sure the no recoil vanguard meta has something to do with it," hinting towards the ease of the guns compared to the metas on Verdansk, while another added, "SBMM has some deep algorithms".
Unfortunately, it appears that the only bots on the game now are me and my squad. Be hopeful you run into us...
