It sometimes feels like Warzone is currently crawling around on its last legs and begging for a revive. As players scramble to find a syringe to keep their favourite title alive, Call of Duty's chokehold and the battle royale has the light draining from its eyes.
Halloween has taken over Warzone for the month as Modern Warfare 3's final season has allowed the ghouls and ghosts in, but it comes at the sacrifice of the core playlists. Fans now want back-to-basics LTMs to come to Warzone, focusing on the foundational gameplay rather than these Apex Legends-like boosted modes.
Warzone fans call for basic LTMs
Warzone has axed two of the main playlists in Duos and Trios for Urzikstan, presumably because of a lack of popularity. Unfortunately, it only proves that the large-scale game has been outshone by the respawn-activated and engagement-heavy Resurgence mode - the Shipment effect of Warzone.
But fans think there might be a way back: trialing some back-to-basics game modes that offer different approaches to the battle royale. Taking to X, one player claimed that Warzone should remove self-revives, which would force teams to cohere more effectively without the safety net of being able to jump back up.
Self-revives are a rarity in any other BR, and would make the game much more tactical as your life has more value.
While the tweet first insinuated that this should be game-wide, one player pointed out that relying on random players in the Quad-only playlists would be an issue, and it could be a great time to re-introduce Trios and Duos in an LTM with this adaptation.
"Like in solos self-res makes sense but in quads could you imagine the plays you could make if you didn’t have to instantly full everyone you knock," they added.
Another called for Hardcore mode, or at least a variation like in the Call of Duty League, where friendly fire is activated. "I would say having friendly fire on would be a nice change up," they said, as the original poster agreed: "Would love to see this. At a minimum this should be in ranked and customs."
A fourth added, "They should bring a mode that is bare bones. Just loot. No kill streaks no self revives no gulag. Pubg style."
With Resurgence-favouring LTMs all on the craze at the moment, now might be the best time to finally show some love to the large-scale experience and roll back the years ahead of Verdansk's re-arrival in 2025.
