The dead are rising from the ground in 2024, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 looks set to give us the Zombies content we're all ravenous for. We've been starved of Zombies content across two years of Modern Warfare games, but with Treyarch flicking through the Necronomicon, hopes are high.

Many feel that Modern Warfare 3 treated Zombies as an afterthought, and with Operation Deadbolt combining Zombies and DMZ falling flat, we're excited to see what the Call of Duty GOAT can do. With Treyarch introducing Zombies all the way back in World at War, its infected blood flows all the way back to the start.

Black Ops 6 fans trolled by fake Zombies teasers

We've already had a few morsels of Zombies content, with the return of round-based Zombies for the Terminus and Liberty Falls maps making Black Ops 6 a must-buy for some. As we shuffle toward the game's October 25 release, CoD is kicking its marketing campaign into overdrive. Just watch out for the fakes.

The tagline of Black Ops 6 is, "The Truth Lies," which seems apt considering we've just been duped by some faux Zombies teasers. It all started with a now-deleted Reddit thread, where one player said they found a secret in a Black Ops Cold War Wardialer and were encouraged to get in touch with an email address.

This led to mentions of Harper's Ferry, which is thought to be connected to Black Ops 6's Liberty Falls map. CoD Zombies content creator MrRaflWaffles dug even deeper and found a mysterious website full of apparent teasers. This is where it went viral, although all is not what it seems.

We won't mention the email here because you're warned against getting in touch with it. While an impressive and believable piece of Zombies marketing, Charlie Intel has stepped in and confirmed it's all an elaborate hoax. Things get even more weird when Treyarch Director Kevin Drew took note.

Drew responded to MrRaflWaffles and said, "Am I even really who I say I am?" Remembering the whole theme of Black Ops 6 is about lying, some think this is the ultimate level of deception, with Drew hiding genuine teasers in plain sight. Still, we'd warn you against sending emails to an unverified source for obvious phishing reasons.

There was one final twist when Drew responded again and said, "Please trust Activision don't get me in trouble." Even if lying is the name of the game in Black Ops 6, it sounds like he means it. If we were Treyarch, we'd want to nip this in the bud and expose the leak before more players get sucked into this scheme. Then again, the conspiracy theorists are loving this one.
