Since getting its hands on Call of Duty, officially, Microsoft hasn't really known what to do. Almost like a Zookeeper who has rescued an endangered animal, but has no idea how to tame and feed it.
The first port of call has been the upcoming Black Ops 6 instalment, of which Microsoft now looks to be hyping up with a [REDACTED] Direct showcase alongside Xbox's.
But as for how to release this wild beast into Xbox's Zoo-like Game Pass, that's another question altogether. One of the answers Microsoft is debating is a hike in ticket prices.
Xbox reportedly considering Game Pass price hike for Call of Duty
Xbox is likely to get Call of Duty on Game Pass at some point, Phil Spencer has said as much, but as to what capacity, and whether its premium titles arrive on release, is not known. Not even to Xbox.
According to The Verge though, Microsoft has had "internal debates" about increasing the price of Game Pass to accommodate for Call of Duty, as the publishers are worried about missing out on revenue gained by sales from the series.
The Verge's report also eludes to Call of Duty only coming to certain levels of the Game Pass, which could even pave the way for Game Pass to have a new tier in the future which includes these premium titles.
Call of Duty's Game Pass fate still undecided
Xbox does seem set on trying to get Call of Duty on Game Pass, but knowing that the annual releases often net around half a billion dollars within the first 24 hours of release alone, this would somehow have to be recouped through Game Pass year upon year.
With the publishers keen on working towards getting their money's worth out of the $69 billion deal to acquire Activision, it's still unsure just how Game Pass can begin uplifting the series.
This worry does make it increasingly unlikely that Black Ops 6 begin its life on Game Pass, but it could very well mean that MW3 lands on there not long after the new title's release.
