XDefiant is rumoured to be collaborating with Far Cry New Dawn to bring in grenade launchers and turrets, much to the dismay of players.

As part of its live-service model, XDefiant has pledged to honour countless other Ubisoft franchises, having already based the in-game characters off pre-existing teams under the Ubi banner.

Collaborations with Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, Far Cry 6, The Division, and Ghost Recon were all released in the game from the start, while Season One brought forth a pairing with Rainbow Six Seige to create some rather controversial characters.

With Season 2 now beckoning, XDefiant's next crossover Faction has been leaked as Far Cry New Dawn, and with it comes even more worrisome abilities.

Far Cry New Dawn's XDefiant crossover spells explosive trouble

The Rainbow Six faction was heavily criticised upon launch as its extra-padded helmet nerfed all snipers to a two-shot kill, despite the quickscoping montages being some of the most fun players have had in an arcade shooter for years.

According to leaks, Far Cry New Dawn's collab will have an equally jarring kit, as Grenade Launchers and Turrets are reportedly being given to the Faction.

Already, players hate the sound of a grenade launcher. Taking to X, complaints of, "A grenade launcher? Can't wait to come across that one guy just spamming it," were popular comments and echoed in various threads.

"We need to stop adding grenade launchers and shields into games," added a second fan. Others took aim at the glaring omissions of Ubisoft's biggest franchises.

"Ok, I’ve come to terms that they are purposely pissing me off. Where is the ASSASSIN’s Creed character? First we got a second riot shield and now we get a noob tube, and a turret.. sigh" one fan complained.

Future crossovers have already been leaked to contain Assassin's Creed, although it might be more likely that the guild will be joining XDefiant closer to the release of the upcoming Shadows title set in Japan.

The Far Cry New Dawn characters themselves are renowned for their colour and aptitude with a crossbow in hand. Maybe the grenade launcher would have been best served as an explosive bolt arrow, more synonymous with the lore and more friendly to a shooter game.
