Call of Duty Zombies fans are queuing up like a line of Michael Jackson's Thriller extras to boogie the night away after hearing the latest developments in the franchise's future. Treyarch - the esteemed Zombies developer - is reportedly budgeting to be in control of the leading Call of Duty title for two years, and it stirred a buzz in the underworld.
With Modern Warfare 2 breaking tradition and holding the fort down for two years, much has been speculated as to whether Treyarch will be given the same time to nurture its next title in the Call of Duty lineage.
Having already planned for a 2024 release, with a campaign spanning across the Gulf War and into more recent conflicts like those in Iraq and Afghanistan, some more rumours have surfaced about what else is in store for the upcoming game.
Is Treyarch Budgeting For A Two-Year Call of Duty Title?
According to reports, Treyarch is financially planning for a two-year stint with its upcoming Call of Duty title in 2024. Leaks have suggested that it will be releasing post-launch content for two years after the first release, indicating that the Black Ops series is in for a big treat.
It's alleged that Activision hasn't actually confirmed or denied that Treyarch will get its two-year game as a guarantee. Still, it's been given the green light to budget for one, with Activision keeping a close eye on how Modern Warfare 2's second year will go down.
Infinity Ward has already detailed ways that it will keep Activision's cash flow strong in the second year of Modern Warfare 2, with a 'Greatest Hits' map bundle and campaign DLC planned.
Zombies Fans Rejoice At Hearing Treyarch Budget News
Having seemingly notched back any rumours of Advanced Warfare 2 until at least 2026, Treyarch fanatics are now expressing their delight - especially those from the Zombies community.
"Two years of Zombies, let's go!", one fan said on Twitter, with others adding an array of classic gifs to share their excitement. Many fans have also speculated that Zombies Chronicles 2 could also come out, combining each and every Zombies map ever created and pooling them into a year-two DLC.
Not to rain on anyone's parade though, Treyarch has also been releasing content on Black Ops Cold War for a two-year stint despite Vanguard coming into the cycle, meaning that this budgeting deal might not be as black and white as it may appear.
