As Call of Duty fans, we often look back at features from "back in the day" and wonder why the series decided to scrap these beloved concepts. Usually, this comes from a multiplayer standpoint, but Zombies isn't far behind.
Now, Black Ops 6 is moving even further away from the nostalgic and basic feel of Nacht Der Untoten. While many of the newer features come with plenty of promise, a handful of older features have been left behind, and players are asking to see them return. Namely, crawlers.
Black Ops 6 players call for 'crawler' throwback
With the focus on Easter eggs being ramped up in Black Ops 6 Zombies, especially on Terminus, players are now calling for the return of the old-style crawlers. No, not those pesky Nova-6 agents, but rather the legless undead that scratch around the map and refuse to die.
Not only did these crawlers give us time to pee (although Black Ops 6 can pause), but they also proved great for players who needed to Pack-a-Punch, upgrade their kit, or hunt for Easter eggs. Popular Zombies guru "Glitching Queen" took to X to call for their return - a request that gained popular traction.
"When they changed it and they started dying after a few minutes it really made our easter egg hunting lives a living hell," she said. Others agreed, as another commented, "I want the BO1 crawlers back. The ones that no matter how many times or how far away you got. They never died or respawned, EVER!"
Black Ops 6's 'classic' Zombies mode could be exactly what we need
While not confirmed, there are rumours of a 'classic' Zombies mode or map coming to Black Ops 6, which will strip the game back to its basic form.
The mode, reported to have no armour, boss zombies, loadouts, killstreaks, or ammo mods, might just be the perfect calling to relive the good ol' day and have crawlers make a comeback.
Even though it might only be a minor change, the crawler was a quality-of-life feature that probably should never have been tinkered with in the first place. Sometimes, you need a minute or two after firing lead at brainless meat for hours on end.
